Serverless Vector โ†—

In our previous issue, we got a new Elasticsearch Serverless option, Vercel closed a massive funding round, and Scarlett Johansson snubbed OpenAI. This week, CloudFormation gets easier to troubleshoot, Pinecone launches its serverless vector database, and SES gets its own Mail Manager. Plus, we have plenty of serverless content from the community!

Serverless News & Announcements ๐Ÿ“ฃ

I'm a bit under the weather this week, so apologies for today's brevity.

There were lots of really interesting announcements from AWS this past week, including two great CloudFormation updates: AWS CloudFormation accelerates dev-test cycle with a new parameter for DeleteStack API and AWS CloudFormation streamlines deployment troubleshooting with AWS CloudTrail integration.

Also, the AWS Lambda console now supports sharing test events between developers in additional regions, Amazon OpenSearch Service zero-ETL integration with Amazon S3 is now available, and Amazon RDS Proxy is now available in 6 additional AWS regions.

Amazon EventBridge Event Bus now supports improved filtering capabilities for event matching and Amazon SES launched Mail Manager to help manage complex inbound and outbound email workloads. I'll be curious to see how far they take this.

And the Mistral Small foundation model is now available in Amazon Bedrock. For more details on what it's good for, check out the official blog post.

In other cloud news, Pinecone launched its serverless vector database out of preview, Cloudflare's AI Gateway is generally available, and Fauna introduced new Event Streaming.

Finally, Allen Helton shared some heartbreaking personal news. Allen is a staple in the serverless community, so please send your prays and support to him and his family.

Star of the Week โญ๏ธ

This week's star is Chloe McAree (@ChloeMcAteer3). Chloe is a Senior Software Engineer at Hamilton Robson and an AWS Community Builder. When she's not helping organize the BelfAWSt User Group, or winning Engineer of the Year at Hamilton Robson, she's out sharing her serverless knowledge and experience at conferences like ServerlessDays Belfast. Thanks for all your contributions to the serverless community, Chloe!

Final Thoughts ๐Ÿค”

I had an amazing time at ServerlessDays Belfast last Thursday. Could have done without getting Covid, but those are the risks we take to share serverless with the world. ๐Ÿ˜€

I've got two weeks to recover and then I'm off to ServerlessDays Milan!

See you next week,
Jeremy
