Off-by-none: Issue #339

October 7, 2025

Back in the Flow 🧠

In our previous issue, Anthropic dropped Claude Sonnet 4.5, AWS gave us S3 Tables and ECS Managed Instances, and Cloudflare celebrated its birthday with a boatload of new launches. This week, AWS launches its API MCP Server, Supabase passes GO and collects $100M, and the Data API Client v2.0 gives serverless Postgres and MySQL users fewer headaches. Plus, we have plenty of awesome serverless and cloud content from the community!

News & Announcements

AWS dropped a few exciting updates this week, starting with the AWS API MCP Server v1.0.0. This lets you interact with any AWS API through natural language by creating and executing syntactically correct CLI commands. Crazy. They also published new guidance for deploying MCP servers, showing how to get up and running with Bedrock Agents or other LLM integrations.

In other AWS news, Cohere’s Embed v4 multimodal model is now available in Bedrock, bringing their text-and-image embeddings into the mix. Meanwhile, AWS Builder ID now supports “Sign in with Google,” which is amazing, because as good as AWS is at security, they still haven't figured out how to make simple website sign-in flows work. And there’s a new self-service invoice correction feature. The announcement says it lets you update the business legal name and address. The only question now is who should I send my AWS bill to? Maybe Supabase, they just raised $100M at a $5B valuation.

Elsewhere in the cloud, IBM Cloud Code Engine introduced serverless GPU fleets (I feel like we've been promised this before), and Yotta launched Shakti Studio to bring production-ready AI pipelines to the enterprise crowd.

David Boyne clearly figured out how to clone himself and introduced Data Stores in EventCatalog for richer event metadata and schema visibility.

Oh, and I finally published Data API Client v2.0.0! Full TypeScript re-write, AWS SDK v3, and PostgreSQL enhancements. I know it took me a while, but maintaining open source is a thankless job and it burned me out. I have a new lease on life (more on that later) and will be getting back to what I love — helping people make the most out of the cloud.

Final Thoughts 🤔

I recently had the opportunity to join an in-person, interactive session on Product Management and AI, and it was eye-opening. Not because I learned anything particularly new about AI, but because despite being in a room full of incredibly smart and accomplished product leaders, I got the sense that very few of them truly understood what’s coming.

Product managers will almost certainly still have a role (at least until AI can talk directly to customers and make smart strategic product decisions, which is definitely a ways off), because not everything is empirical, especially when it comes to how products make people feel.

But there’s a tectonic shift happening where PRDs are being replaced with prototypes, roadmaps with real-time feedback, and intuition with intelligent insight. We’re not documenting ideas anymore—we’re discovering them in motion. Don't get left behind.

Until next week,
Jeremy
