In our previous issue, we caught up on a bunch of news, .NET learned to transform itself, and Lambda standardized INIT billing. This week, Claude 4 comes to Bedrock, Cost Anomalies come to you, and AWS figures out how to better communicate product lifecycle updates. Plus, we have plenty of awesome content from the serverless and cloud communities!
In AWS news, Anthropic's Claude 4 foundation models are now in Amazon Bedrock, adding the most powerful models for coding from Anthropic to the platform.
AWS also announced that AWS Cost Anomaly Detection enabled advanced alerting through AWS User Notifications. Seems like a lot of manual set up, but still a welcome addition.
And they introduced the AWS Product Lifecycle page (along with some AWS service availability updates) to help you stay informed about upcoming end-of-support announcements and alternative solutions for AWS products. Check it out here: AWS Product Lifecycle.
In some security related news, according to Cisco Talos researchers, Hackers Could Abuse Google Cloud Platform to Execute Malicious Commands. Plus, Warren Parad warns that API Gateway Authorizers are Vulnerable By Design.

Here a few of my favorite tutorials from this past week:
JavaScript Lambda Runtime Benchmarking
Jason Butz shares his new benchmarking results for Node.js, Deno, and Bun. Not sure we learn much, other than maybe validating the performance increases of Container-based runtimes.
The Hidden Cost of Idle SQS Queues: How I Hit 1 Million API Calls Without Sending a Single Message
No surprise that Mohamed Nabeem was caught off guard by this. The idle cost is small, but still bugs me as well.
Adaptive Http
Jason Wadsworth writes about an adaptive infrastructure that can dynamically shift traffic at runtime based on load. If only someone had built an entire platform around this idea. 🤷♂️
All the sessions from ServerlessDays Belfast 2025 are now available for your viewing pleasure, plus these two excellent videos:
Here are a few more AWS announcements that are good to know:
fearlessfara/apigw-vtl-emulator
A browser-based editor and emulator for AWS API Gateway VTL templates — with live preview, debug tools, and full in-browser execution.
